Opportunities and challenges in IT

As chief information officer and head of the IT Division, Joakim Nejdeby is in charge of ensuring that Linköping University's various operations have the best IT solutions, given the university's objectives and resources.

The challenge Joakim Nejdeby enjoys most is the fast, continuous development that faces Linköping University and the IT sector as a whole. Solutions often exist today that didn’t exist six months ago. Together with his colleagues at the IT Division, Joakim Nejdeby finds it extremely rewarding to deliver these solutions to committed students, researchers and teachers.

At Linköping University, Joakim Nejdeby has worked with everything from systems administrator and systems developer to head of the IT Division in its various forms, and for four years as deputy head of University Services. The recurrent theme in all these roles has been to use IT to advance the university’s operations. The IT revolution of the past 15 years has given us smartphones and various cloud solutions that can completely change how teaching and research are conducted.

At Linköping University there is always something new to learn, always changes and improvements on the way.
