Governments across the world are implementing or considering implementing unilateral tariffs on carbon emissions from imported goods, but how will this impact global trade and consensus on climate change in an increasingly fragmented world?

Research in the AICA-project

I work on the AICA (AI-Powered Carbon Border Adjustments) project at Environmental Change. I research the impact on global trade patterns of several countries in the Global North implementing Carbon Border Adjustments to mitigate the risk of carbon leakage, the phenomenon of moving emissions away from countries with strong environmental regulation to parts of the world with less stringent requirements.

Before starting at Environmental Change, I worked in the UK Government on a range of international climate and energy issues, including the EUs Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism.
