My work explores how new technologies can be combined with traditional craft knowledge in advanced cabinetmaking, with a particular interest in bending techniques and the interaction between handcraft, CNC machining, and additive manufacturing. I also aim to build strong connections between university education and industry, supporting ongoing exchange between research, craft practice, and production.
Alongside my academic role, I am a founding member and co-partner of Atelier Sandemar (est. 2020), where I develop furniture collections and work with product development at the intersection of design and cabinetmaking.
Teaching is a central part of my work and something I care deeply about. At Malmstens LiU, my goal is to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel encouraged to challenge themselves, explore their ideas, and develop both skill and confidence in their practice. I want students to recognize the unique opportunities available at Malmstens — a place where deep craft knowledge and shared experience provide a strong foundation for a future professional life.
In my teaching, I encourage students to explore what it means to be a craftsperson today by balancing respect for established traditions with curiosity toward new tools and methods, including CAD and CNC technologies. My aim is to support students in developing an independent, reflective and forward-looking approach to their work.
