Research about transport and eldely

I am a PhD-student with a shared position at Linköping University and VTI, the Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute. My field of interest is elderly people and transport, especially in the role of pedestrians or users of public transport. My project aims to investigate if this group has any specific challenges, and what they would need to experience safer and easier trips. My reason for choosing this group in particular is because increasing age is followed by changes, progressive loss of functions and diseases, and I hope not only to get results that can benefit this group, but other groups as well. This to make sure our transport system is as inclusive as possible. I find participation and inclusion to be important aspects, perhaps because of my background in social work. I have previous working experience in both health care and municipalities.

A part of my PhD project is within the frames of an EU-project. Because of this I have done some data collections with participants using VR. This has been a great opportunity for me to learn more about technical solutions and how to use them.

Thank you for showing an interest in my work. (Link to HEIDI)

SWEAH research school

I am affiliated to SWEAH, Swedish national Graduate School for Ageing and Health. It is an interdisciplinary research school coordinated by Lund University. SWEAH supports the development of interdisciplinary research on ageing in relation to several diagnoses, such as neurodegenerative diseases, heart disease, stroke, mental illness, diabetes and cancer. The research takes the needs of older people into account.
