Linköping University Life Science Meeting is a one-day meeting with a focus to bring together students, graduates and team members with partners from the life science industry, academia, the health care system and invited lecturers.

What is the Life Science Meeting about?

The aim of the event is to highlight ongoing research within Life Sciences, different types of career pathways in industry, academia and government agencies, and to provide an arena for networking. The program is designed to make you as students aware of the knowledge and skills you already have or will acquire during your studies, that will enable you to work at the forefront of biomedical research and innovation.

Summaries of previous events

2023

The meeting of 2023 featured presentations on DNA analysis in the judicial system, research and development in body composition profiling and career experiences as a patent attorney. The importance of networking through social media for students and researchers was discussed. There were talks on how to get a job in industry, advancements in skin transplantation, the future role of the pharmaceutical industry in health care, and companion diagnostics. The event concluded with a presentation on commercialisation of edible bio coating preservatives and information on international opportunities for students at BSc Experimental and Industrial Biomedicine and MSc Experimental and Medical Biosciences.

2022: Career opportunities 

The 2022 Life Science Meeting was an online event dedicated to biomedical research adapting to urgent social needs following the spread of COVID-19 and the achievements from public and private sector in tracking, predicting and responding at a never before seen pace during a pandemic.

2019: Drug Discovery and Precision Medicine

The focus of 2019 year’s meeting was drug design and precision medicine. The invited speakers came from small and large life sciences companies and from the academic world, and included researchers at Linköping University.

2018: CRISPR-Cas and Clinical Trials

Tomorrow’s technology, opportunities and networking took center stage at the first ever LiU Life Science Meeting on October 19, 2018. It was an opportunity for interaction between students, lecturers, alumni members, invited international lecturers and other prominent players in the life science field.

The first session highlighted the advances in development and potentials of CRISPR-Cas, a tool used to alter gene expression. Another stand out presentation was on the use of 3D cell models for discovery and screening drugs.
