Linköping University each year awards a scholarship of SEK 10,000 to the best degree project or master’s thesis in statistics and machine learning completed during the year.  The final date for nominations is September 9, 2024.

Lisa Menacher has been awarded the 2024 Christer Gilén Scholarship in statistics and machine learning for her master’s thesis. She utilised machine learning in an effort to make the selection of cancer treatments more effective.

Christer Gilén has set up two prizes for engineering students at his alma mater. The objective of his donation is to encourage student essays or projects that can lead to applications in the private or public sectors.

Akshay Gurudath receives the Christer Gilén Scholarship for his degree project in statistics and machine learning. In his thesis, Akshay presents and compares models he has built to predict positions of pedestrians, cyclists, and autonomous vehicles.

Christer Gilén is deepening his relationship with LiU by setting up a new foundation with a capital of SEK five million. He wants to incentivising outstanding students and boost research at LiU with the aim of finding new applications for technology.
