We are looking for 1-2 student assistants (amanuenses) to contribute to two major European research projects: OPTIX (Optimising Positive-Energy Districts through Interoperable Digital Platforms) and PERSEUS (Policy Effect Navigator: A Map-based Tool for Effective and Equitable 15mC Policy Synthesis).
The work will primarily support the development of an interactive, map-based Decision Support System (DSS) designed for sustainable urban planning and smart energy systems. Your tasks will be varied and central to the projects' success, including:
- In PERSEUS, assisting in the data preparation (for example, questionnaires, interviews, etc) and processing (for example, machine learning etc) for the DSS, with related documentation.
- In OPTIX, contributing to the digital twin models for energy systems (for example, using existing MATLAB/Python models, tuning parameters, etc), with related documentation.
About you
To be employed as an amanuensis, you must have be admitted to a university education at the undergraduate or graduate level.
It is a requirement for the assignment that you have a strong interest and skills in data analysis and programming. The tasks are varied and require a high degree of flexibility, responsibility, and meticulousness.
The following qualifications are highly meritorious for this employment:
- Documented experience in data analysis, machine learning, and/or artificial intelligence.
- Strong programming skills (e.g., in Python).
- Experience with data visualization tools and techniques.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
It is also advantageous if you have previous experience in research projects and can be potentially available for assignments during both 2026 and 2027.
Your workplace
You will work at the Division of Environmental Technology and Management, which is part of the Department of Management and Engineering (IEI) and the Faculty of Science and Engineering (LiTH). You will be part of a dynamic, international research environment working at the forefront of digitalization for sustainable cities.
About the employment
A position as an amanuensis is regulated in Chapter 5 of the Higher Education Ordinance.
The scope is part-time, with start date and hours arranged by agreement. An average of 20% is expected for 2 persons and the max extent to work can be up to 50 %.
Salary and benefits
Salary according to LiU's central agreement on amanuensis salary. The employment is paid by the hour.
