Anders Eklund, associate professor at the department of biomedical engineering (IMT), has received a research grant of 3.6 million crowns from the Swedish research council, to develop new methods (statistics, image processing) to find connections between brain activity, brain connectivity and genes. The idea is that these methods will be used to better understand differences in brain activity between healthy controls and subjects with a brain disease. The project will benefit from large open databases (human connectome project, UK biobank) which have collected brain images and genetic data from thousands of persons.
