Andreas Blomqvist

My name is Andreas Blomqvist and I am wearing two hats! Some days I am an entrepreneur, running an eHealth business in Stockholm, and other days I am a PhD-student in the field of medical science, focusing on physical activity and heart failure.

Physical activity and heart failure

Heart failure is a very common disease with 250 000 afflicted in Sweden alone. Efficacious pharmacological treatment is readily available, but adequate self-care behaviour is in fact also a very potent way to deal with the disease.

There is strong evidence that people with heart failure greatly benefit from exercise, but for many people it is not feasible to attend structure physical therapy and many lead sedentary lives. My research is dedicated towards the development of a home-based support for these people, designed to encourage and support increased physical activity.
