Antonio Cabrera Vazquez

Laughing at the victim's pain or getting angry at the cruel aggressions? My studies deal with the impact of moral emotions on (cyber)bullying, as well as the moral disengagement that sometimes facilitates the discomfort of committing an injustice.

Presentation

Antonio Cabrera-Vázquez is a PhD candidate under a joint supervision agreement between Linköping University (Sweden) and the University of Córdoba (Spain). He is a member of the Laboratory of Studies on Convivencia and Prevention of Violence affiliated to the University of Córdoba. He is also a member of the School Bullying Research Group at Linköping University.

His research focuses on the cognitive, emotional, and moral processes involved in school bullying and cyberbullying dynamics. In particular, his studies examine the roles of moral disengagement, moral anger, and schadenfreude (malicious joy) in shaping behaviors—both online and offline—within students’ peer networks. Special attention is given to the roles of aggressors and defenders in these dynamics. His aim is to analyze how the socio-moral dimensions influence children’s and adolescents’ decisions within their peer group—not only when intentionally harming others, but also when choosing to help or remain passive in the face of others’ suffering.
