In one project, I examine how "student teaching" placements (VFU in Swedish) affect prospective teachers' likelihood of completing their teacher education program. For the project I use data from the lower elementary school teacher program (grades F–3) at Linköping University linked to Swedish register data. The project has important implication for retaining teachers in the profession as well as for what school they end up working in.

In another project, I study teachers' contributions to pupils' reading development in the early school years, using data from LegiLexi. Rather than treating reading ability as a composite measure, it is decomposed into sub-skills such as decoding, vocabulary, and listening comprehension.
Methodologically, I work with quantitative methods and register data, with an interest in causal identification strategies such as fixed effects models and value-added models.
