Presentation

A third of the world's adult population is estimated to have high blood pressure, and globally, high blood pressure is considered the most important preventable cause of premature death. The risk of complications due to high blood pressure increases with rising blood pressure levels at the population level, but for each individual, it is more difficult to assess the risk of high blood pressure. Therefore, it is of interest to find new markers that can refine cardiovascular risk assessment. My research aims to highlight two such potential blood pressure markers, namely the blood pressure reaction when standing up at home (home orthostatic blood pressure) and home blood pressure variability.
