Research vascular surgery
I work clinically as consultant in vascular surgery. Research involves translational research considering measurements and evaluation of peripheral micro and macro-circulation. In current projects were are evaluating the macro-circulation using new ultrasound techniques. This is performed in conjunction with measurement of microcirculation using multimodal camera techniques. This is done in conjunction with the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Department of clinical physiology. The method is based on infrared light and laser technology. The aim is to develop new tolls in predicting wound healing in patients with diabetic foot ulcers and limbs with ischemic lesions. The aim is also to develop new tools in measuring the effect on microcirculation after invasive treatment of stenosed or occluded arteries in the lower limb presenting with chronic critical limb ischemia.
