Iwona Bernacka-Wojcik obtained her MSc degree in Materials Science from Jagiellonian University, Poland in 2007. She completed her PhD studies in 2014 in New University of Lisbon, Portugal, where she developed various PDMS/SU-8-based microfluidic platforms for (i) colorimetric DNA detection based on DNA-functionalized gold nanoparticles, (ii) micromixing, and (iii) label-free single cell analysis.
In October 2015, she joined the Laboratory of Organic Electronics as a Postdoc and in 2017 she became a member of the Electronic Plants group. Her research activity is focusing on developing and optimizing the organic electronic ion pump (OEIP) for controlled delivery of biomolecules. In particularly she is developing implantable capillary based OEIPs for in-vivo delivery of phytohormones for understanding and controlling stress responses in plants.
