I study the interaction between different actors in municipal and regional settings: the co-operation between elected representatives and voters, between politics and administration, between political parties, and between municipalities and regions.

Presentation

I am primarily doing research within three areas:

Political decision making and management in a new municipal parliamentary landscape
Citizen reactions to controversial local political decisions
The interaction between senior politicians and officials in municipalities

Local democracy requires brave decision-makers

Every period faces challenges to democracy that must be faced. Threats and internet hate, for example, are serious problems for democracy in municipalities. Even so, local politics functions well, all things considered.

Decision-making during an emergency

It is a tradition in Swedish society to always have a plan ready to use in different situations. When an emergency arises with a very high speed, there is a risk that the Swedish approach to decision-making can be undermined.
