Pop-up books in watercolour and ink

Windpower in Ragunda stands upon histories of colonialism and resource extraction. Some see a sustainable digital future here. Others must live with yet another industrial transformation of a landscape for which they will not be compensated.

What is it to live with these turbines? What futures do they make, and for whom?

As a part of our project, Julia Velkova collaborated with paper engineer and artist Lena Ignestam to create a series of pop-up books – “Grounding Wind”, “Locating Wind” and “Wind Futures” exploring these questions from the Björkvattnet Wind Park in Ragunda. The books can be seen at our exhibition “Where is the Cloud?” open until 31st August 2025 at the Museum of Work, Norrköping.
