Pedagogical Day is an annual conference at LiU where staff have the opportunity to exchange experiences and inspire each other on issues related to higher education pedagogy and didactics. Pedagogical Day 2026 will take place on March 18th in House C at Campus Valla.

From sweeping panoramas to intimate close-ups of both teaching and learning in higher education today

Welcome to a day dedicated to both surveying the landscape of higher education pedagogy and delving into the finer details of teaching practices – from broad outlooks to fresh insights. Together, we explore and discuss higher education in a transformational time.

Keynote speakers 2026

Jonna Bornemark

Jonna Bornemark is a professor of philosophy at the Centre for Studies in Practical Knowledge at Södertörn University. She is a regular contributor to Swedish Radio’s program "Filosofiska rummet" and a columnist for Dagens Nyheter. Jonna is one of Sweden’s most influential and widely read philosophers, known for books such as: “The Renaissance of the Unmeasurable” and the follow-up “The Horizon Always Remains – On the Forgotten Judgement”. She has also explored pregnancy, life and the limits of the self in “jag är himel och have” and has recently released “De Levande”, a part of the book series “Vrida världen”, where she explores how rethinking our relationship with living beings can reshape our understanding of what truly matters and inspire us to act differently.

Jonna is active in several research-projects within the theory of practical knowledge, phenomenology, HAS and philosophy of religion. Within these projects she discusses the limits of calculation, skills of judgement, subjectivity and the concept of Bildung. But also the relation between humans and animals, pregnancy and embodiment. She is also studying Artifical Intelligens vs. judgement.

Jenny Valcke

Jenny Valcke is an Educational Developer at the Unit for Teaching and Learning (UoL) and Researcher at the Department of Learning, Informatics, Management and Ethics (LIME) at Karolinska Institutet (KI) in Stockholm. Her role includes teaching, training and advising on issues related to Internationalisation of the Curriculum (IoC), cultural education, Global Citizenship Education (GCE) and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in healthcare sciences. Jenny provide support and prepare educators and supervisors for the challenges of the multilingual and multicultural learning space. She is involved in supporting quality education in English-Medium Education (EME) and also provide support for educational leaders to integrate internationalisation perspectives into the content and delivery of education.

Title of keynote: Glocal education – Internationalisation as pedagogical practice.

Jenny is also offering a workshop during Pedagogical Day, titled: Practical tools for glocally responsive teaching.
