We are seeking a motivated and talented postdoctoral researcher to join our cutting-edge project aimed at developing organic bioelectronic technologies.   • Innovate: Use advanced microfabrication techniques and additive manufacturing to develop state-of-the-art devices
  • Investigate: Interface these devices into plant models to study their responses to environmental stress.

Qualifications

The applicant should have a PhD and strong scientific background in (electrical, mechanical) engineering, bioelectronics, neuroscience, bioengineering, biotechnology or equivalent.

We are looking for a candidate who is / has:

  • Academically Strong: Holds a relevant doctoral degree with a solid track record.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with microfabrication techniques, additive manufacturing, electrophysiology, signal processing is a plus.
  • Self-Motivated: Strongly self-driven with excellent problem-solving skills, ready to tackle complex challenges.
  • Driven and Creative: Passionate about innovation and able to think outside the box.
  • Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Collaborative: Capable of working effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Organized: Excellent organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and projects effectively.
  • Excellent Communicator: Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

To be qualified to take employment as postdoc, you must have been awarded a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree that is deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree.  This degree must have been awarded at the latest by the point at which LiU makes its decision to employ you.

It is considered advantageous if your doctoral degree is no older than three years at application deadline for this job. If there are special reasons for having an older doctoral degree – such as taking statutory leave – then these may be taken into consideration.

You will work within the Electronic Plants group, led by Senior Associate Professor Eleni Stavrinidou. This interdisciplinary team is driven by a passion for interfacing plants and technology to address societal needs and satisfy scientific curiosity. Our main research directions include:

  • Bioelectronic Technologies: Developing cutting-edge bioelectronic tools to advance plant science, aiming for sustainable food production and resilient crops that can withstand climate change.
  • Biohybrid Systems: Exploring and harnessing biological structures and processes to create biohybrid systems and living materials. These innovations are designed to develop sustainable technologies with unique characteristics.

The employment

This employment is a temporary contract of two years with the possibility of extension up to a total maximum of three years. The employment is full-time.
