Research assistant at BKV
Back to available jobsWe are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to join our work on functional characterization of genetically defined brain circuits in mice.
The position
In this role, you will work on the functional characterization of genetically defined brain circuits in mice. You will be involved in a range of experimental and computational tasks, including:
- Characterization and manipulation of defined neuronal populations using intracranial injections of viral vectors and optogenetics in behaving mice
- Whole-brain neuroanatomy and imaging using confocal microscopy
- Tissue preparation and computational analysis of single nuclei sequencing datasets
The person we need
We are looking for someone who has a Master’s degree in Biomedicine.
The following experience and expertise are required:
- Experience with research related to anxiety disorders in females in mouse models
- Experience with computational analysis of whole brain anatomy dataset, freely moving behaviors in mice and single nuclei sorting for sequencing
- Confocal microscopy imaging
- Tissue sectioning and immunohistochemistry
- Computational analysis of behaviors in mice with markerless pose estimation softwares
- Tissue preparation for single nuclei isolation for RNA/Chromatin sequencing
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
In addition, the following experience and expertise will strengthen an application:
- Prior experience with rodent handling, microscopy, or molecular techniques
- Previous experience in programming, specifically with the following analysis softwares (Napapri, DeepLabcut, R, python)
The workplace
You will be working at the Center for Social and Affective Neuroscience (CSAN), in the research group led by Daniela Calvigioni. The position offers the opportunity to be part of a dynamic team investigating brain circuits underlying emotional states.
