Work assignments

Do you want to contribute to the development of future sustainable logistics and transport solutions, and help drive the research frontier forward? We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher with an interest in sustainable logistics and transport and/or circularity, as well as collaboration between actors and/or the development of innovative business models.

As a postdoctoral researcher, you will conduct research in the field of sustainable logistics and transport systems, with a particular focus on the electrification of freight transport. You will be part of a research project exploring how collaboration and resource sharing can contribute to a more efficient and sustainable transport sector. There will also be opportunities to engage in research within related areas – focusing on sustainable logistics systems – in dialogue with the research group.

Your main tasks will include:

  • Conducting literature reviews and analyses of existing research
  • Planning and carrying out empirical studies, such as interviews, observations, and workshops
  • Developing conceptual models and theoretical frameworks
  • Writing scientific articles and conference papers
  • Participating in knowledge dissemination within both international and national networks

As postdoc, you will principally carry out research. A certain amount of teaching or other departmental tasks may be part of your duties, up to a maximum of 20% of working hours.

Qualifications

To be qualified to take employment as postdoc, you must have been awarded a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree that is deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree.  This degree must have been awarded at the latest by the point at which LiU makes its decision to employ you.

It is considered advantageous if your doctoral degree is no older than three years at application deadline for this job. If there are special reasons for having an older doctoral degree – such as taking statutory leave – then these may be taken into consideration.

We are looking for a candidate who has:

  • A PhD in sustainable logistics, sustainable transport, industrial engineering and management with a sustainability focus, or a closely related field
  • Excellent ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
  • Experience with qualitative research methods, such as interviews, observations, and/or workshops
  • Strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively with other researchers and external stakeholders
  • A strong publication record in journals relevant to the research area

It is considered advantageous if you have:

  • Experience in collaboration with industrial partners or participation in interdisciplinary research projects
  • Knowledge of theories related to inter-organizational relationships, such as resource sharing, power dynamics, or trust

We are looking for someone who takes initiative and drives work forward with a clear focus on goals and results. You are thorough, quality-conscious, and strive to meet high standards. In addition, you possess strong analytical skills and are able to solve complex problems in a structured and solution-oriented manner. You are also a strong team player.

The workplace

You will be working at the Division of Logistics and Quality Management, which is part of the Department of Management and Engineering. The division is one of the leading research groups in Sweden within its two fields: logistics and quality management. Our research is conducted in close collaboration with industry, public organisations, and international research networks. It is characterized by a strong focus on sustainability, which is reflected in many of our ongoing projects. Both teaching and research are largely campus-based and collaborative in nature, which means that most work is carried out on site. Within the division, we highly value strong engagement in both teaching and research among all our staff members.
