Practical information




All students who booked the accommodation package will receive more information in the beginning of June.


Information on Package Price

You have two options for accommodation during the Summer Academy: students can organise their own accommodation or you can accept the Accommodation Package Linköping University has organised for you. The package is designed to help you get set up in Sweden quickly and easily so you can focus on classes and making new friends.

All students who apply for Linköping University Summer Academy at University Admissions and at the same time choose the Accommodation Package are guaranteed accommodation.

  • It is important that students note that the accommodation is only available between June 30 (after 13:00) and the 29th of July 2017 (before 12:00).  If students intend to spend time in Sweden before or after these dates they need to arrange additional accommodation on their own.


Accommodation Package
Package Price = 5000 SEK

•    Single student room or a small studio for two, with internet (not Wifi*) and utilities included (electricity, heat, water)
•    New linen and towel and kitchen utensils provided in the shared kitchens
•    Access to laundry facilities
•    Unlimited bus card which will give you access to travel around Linköping and the province of Östergötland.
•    Campushallen Gold card (Campus Valla’s fitness centre)
•    1 final exit cleaning service for your room**

*Please note you will be required to keep your room and living space clean and tidy and wash your own laundry during your stay in Sweden.

**Please also note that, if you have not booked and payed for the Accommodation Package, you will have to organize a room by yourself and you will not receive the bus card as well as the other things included in our Accommodation Package.

About the rooms

A single corridor room for one person is 20 square meters and includes a private bathroom. There are eight rooms in a corridor sharing a kitchen and a living room. The room is fully furnished and the beds are 90x200 cm. In the shared kitchen you will have access to shared fridge and freezer.



A shared small studio for two people is between 25-34 square meters and includes a bedroom, shared bathroom and kitchen (all for two people). The room is fully furnished and the beds are 90x200 cm. In the shared kitchen you will have a fridge and freezer.

Both accommodation types will be provided in the areas, Ryd, Flamman/Fjärillen and Irrblosset.

It is the responsibility of the former tenant (the person moving out) for cleaning the corridor room /studio. If you have any complaints, regarding the cleaning of your accommodation you must contact summerstudenthost@liu.se on the same day you move in.

The student accommodation is in an area called Ryd which is a suburb of Linköping. With its own town centre offering practically all the services you might need, Ryd almost feels like a town in its own right. You will have access to good laundry rooms and recycling facilities, a number of excellent study rooms, as well as a sauna, beach volleyball court, tennis courts and barbecue spots. For exercise and fresh air, you have the nearby woodland of Rydskogen, and there is an excellent golf course next to the university. The University Hospital Campus is 25 minutes by bus.



The accommodation is in two student buildings called Flamman. The buildings are located about 20-minute walk to The University Hospital Campus. With a 10-minute walk to the city centre you will have access all that Linköping has to offer. You will have access to good laundry rooms and recycling facilities and study rooms at the nearby city library. There is also a possibility to exercise in the nearby woodland Rydskogen. The University Hospital Campus is 25 minutes by bus.



The area Valla is located in a suburb of Linköping, about 20-minute walk to the city centre and 10 minutes bus ride to the University Hospital Campus. In the area there is woodland called Vallaskogen and also the old Linköping where you are able to experience the historic buildings of Linköping. There are two grocery shops, pizzeria and other restaurants nearby.

We will provide you with more travel information about how to get to campus when you arrive. If you want to buy or hire a bike, it is just a 15-minute bike ride away and if you want to go into Linköping City it is a similar distance. The University Hospital Campus is 15 minutes by bus.

Visa information

EU/EEA citizens are allowed to stay in Sweden without residence permit for up to three months, however different rules apply to non EU/EEA students. Some foreign nationals must have a visa in order to enter Sweden. If you need a visa, as soon as you have received the acceptance to Linköping University International Summer Academy 2017, the visa application process should start. We are unable to assist in this process. For more information, please contact your nearest Swedish embassy or consulate.

If you need visa, please apply for it at the Migration Board and you do not need to fill in your address in Linköping (if you apply via a paper form at an Embassy or Consulate you most have an address).
