Study Information

On this page, you will find important information regarding the start of your studies and other study administrative matters.

Academic English

The Academic English Support is open to all students at Linköping University and is available at all three campuses (Linköping/Valla, Linköping/US, and Norrköping). Improve your English language skills and become more confident about using English for academic purposes. If you are working on a take-home exam, an essay, a thesis, etc, you may contact them for help and advice on how to improve your text. You can also receive feedback and advice regarding oral presentations.

University Library

If you would like to find course literature or other kinds of literature, you should make your way to one of our campus libraries. You can also go to the library website to see if a particular book is available, order books, arrange to borrow the book from another library and so forth. It is possible to book a librarian, who can help you find suitable literature for certain subjects. This is free of charge and applies to all campus libraries. They can also introduce you to online resources such as Wordfinder.

Student Health Care

Moving to a new country is not easy and can feel both lonely and stressful. The Student Health Care Center is available to all students and offers advice and support when you have physical or mental health issues.

NOTE: You will get access to this page once you are here.

Equal Opportunities

Everyone, with all individual differences, is welcome; everyone is needed. LiU is to be characterised by an inclusive work and study environment in which all co-workers are treated with respect and where the conditions are excellent for working and developing.
We work to ensure the equal value of all, with Equal Rights and Opportunities.

Insurance

Please make sure that you have sufficient insurance while studying in Sweden.

All students in Sweden are covered by the personal injury insurance (the general student insurance) that is obtained on behalf of universities and colleges within the State insurance system by the Central Student Grants Committee. The insurance applies in Sweden during school hours and during travel to and from the location where school hours are spent.

Medical Care

In case of emergency: The European emergency number is 112. In case of emergency, you can call this number for assistance from the police, the fire brigade or ambulance. If your condition is serious, but not life threatening, go to the Emergency Room (Akutmottagningen), at the University Hospital in Linköping or Vrinnevi Hospital in Norrköping.

Non-urgent medical situations: call the Medical Care Hotline on 1177 (they speak English) where you can get medical advice from registered nurses 24 hours a day. The nurse can advise you on what you should do and help you find contact information to the nearest open primary health care centre. If you do not have a Swedish personal identity number, you must go to the health care centre (often time called Vårdcentral) in person in order to get a so called F-number, before you can book an appointment. There are health care centres in most areas in Linköping and Norrköping.
