Visiting professor in the name of Moa Martinson, on the basis of Culture and Society. 

Artist/Researcher

Professor at the Department of Multimedia and Graphic Design at the Cyprus University of Technology and one of the leaders of the "ITICA/Museum Lab" at the CYENS Centre of Excellence.

Theopisti Stylianou-Lambert is an artist and researcher and holds the position of Moa Martinson Visiting Professor at Linköping University in Sweden for the academic year 2025-2026. Her research and artistic practice focus on museum studies and visual sociology, with a particular emphasis on photography and emerging technologies.

Theopisti holds a PhD in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester (UK) and a Master's degree in Visual Arts from the University of Texas at Austin (USA).

She has been awarded several prestigious awards and fellowships, including a Smithsonian Fellowship in Museum Practice (USA), a Fulbright Scholarship (USA), and an Arts and Humanities Research Council Award (UK).

She is a member of the advisory committees of the peer-reviewed journals “photographies” and “Visitor Studies”, and a founding member of the International Association of Photography and Theory.

Her artistic works have been exhibited in numerous exhibitions both in Cyprus and internationally, underscoring her contributions to both academic and creative fields.

She is the co-author of The Political Museum (Routledge, 2016) and has edited the volumes Museums and Technologies of Presence (Routledge, 2023), Museums and Emerging Technologies: Mediating Difficult Heritage (Berghahn Books, 2022), Museums and Visitor Photography (MuseumsEtc, 2016), Museums and Photography: Displaying Death (Routledge, 2017) and Photography and Cyprus: Time, Place, Identity (IBTauris, 2014).

She is currently working on a new book titled Reframing Archaeology: Photography, Archives and Colonial Cyprus (Bloomsbury Press, forthcoming).
