The fifth annual conference in Biomedical Engineering at Linköping University has a special focus on the strategic areas Cancer and Infection and inflammation (MIIC).

Programme for the BME conference 21 May 2024

When and where?

The conference takes place 21 May 2024 at 08.30-17.30. Rooms for presentations and sessions are Hugo Theorell, Antracit and Dolomit, floor 9, Norra Entrén (north entrance), University Hospital, Linköping. Coffee and lunch will be served in Ljusgården, which will also host the Research Arena and poster exhibition. 

It will be possible to participate via Zoom.

This track will focus on technology, ultilisation, and technique development that involve bio-sensing/imaging, bio-materials, actuators and/or transducers (i.e. anything that influences, interacts or measures biologic media).

This track will focus on data processing methods that involve Machine Learning, A.I., Image Processing, Modelling, Aggregation and Visualisation, etc. (e.g. anything that interprets and analyses data from biological media).

This track will focus on eHealth and clinical decision support, i.e. on apps, UX-design, remote monitoring, etc. It can also deal with ethics and implementation issues.

13:30-15:00 Medical infection and inflammation (MIIC) (Antracit)

Medical Inflammation and Infection Center (MIIC) research focus is on infections and inflammatory conditions, which are major concerns for human health. This track will focus on basic and clinical research that introduce new methods and technologies that provide new research findings and can contribute to improving human health within the scope of this strategic area on a national and global level.

13:30-15:00 Cancer (Hugo Theorell)

Unique to LiU Cancer is its engagement of scientists from a wide range of disciplines from clinical application to engineering. By supporting interdisciplinary research, we build on strongholds of Linköping University and Regional Health Care to form a high-profile cancer research environment with the ultimate aim to improve patient care and survival. The aim of this track is to highlight some of these interdisciplinary projects initiated at LiU and promote further engagement and collaboration.
