Optimization has become a vital tool for analysis, design and actual control implementations during the last decades. Increasing demands are put on the computational efficiency of the algorithms, robustness and certifiability, and computational tools.

Optimization with a special emphasis on applications in control has a strong history within LiU. We point out the development of the modelling language and research framework YALMIP, which today is one of the most wide-spread academic software projects in control and optimization.
