Vocational rehabilitation – assessment and intervention

Stressade människor

Assessments of individuals’ work ability have an important function in the process of returning to work.

The assessment forms a basis for interventions aimed either at helping individuals find work, return to a previous job, or remain in their current one.

Adequate evaluation of work ability is achieved by choosing assessment instruments that are useful, valid and reliable. Psychometric testing is therefore crucial to the quality of the instrument, and is a primary research area for the group of researchers. As an assessment instrument typically has a specific focus and area of application, it is not usually enough to use only one instrument when assessing a client’s work ability.
