We look forward to receiving your application!

We are now looking for a PhD student in Medical Science.

Your work assignments

As a PhD student, you will participate in the project: Predictive markers for chemotherapy-induced toxicity in childhood cancer. The goal will be to find genetic prediction models to be able to predict which childhood cancer patients have a high or low risk of toxicity in childhood cancer. Preliminary the doctoral project involves collecting clinical data on the effects of childhood cancer treatment, bioinformatically handling sequence data and developing prediction models, as well as conducting Single Cell RNASeq studies and potentially HiCap studies.

As a PhD student, you devote most of your time to doctoral studies and the research projects of which you are part. Your work may also include teaching or other departmental duties, up to a maximum of 20% of full-time.

Your qualifications

You have graduated at Master’s level within the civil engineering courses such as technical biology, chemical biology, biotechnology, a master's with a focus on molecular biology or bioinformatics or equivalent, or completed courses with a minimum of 240 credits, at least 60 of which must be in advanced courses in biology, chemistry/pharmacology or bioinformatics. Alternatively, you have gained essentially corresponding knowledge in another way.

You should have an interest in research and science as well as biology, chemistry, pharmacology, cancer and drug treatment. It is advantageous if you have previously worked with massively parallel sequencing (NGS), both in the laboratory and/or with bioinformatics, for example Single Cell RNAseq. It is also advantageous if you have worked with prediction models, machine learning or AI models and are familiar with blood cells such as neutrophils, leukocytes and platelets. Work experience in the area is meritorious. If you also have experience with other molecular biology techniques, that is also seen as an advantage. You should also be meticulous, ambitious, solution-oriented and have a positive attitude.

Extra weight will be given to bioinformatic skills and experience within the area of the PhD as outlined above. Due to the need of reviewing clinical records, you’ll need to be fluent in Swedish, both written and spoken language.

A personal letter and a letter of intent in which you describe your merits in relation to the stated qualifications must be attached.

Your workplace
