Back to available jobsWe are now looking for a PhD student in Automatic Control, at the Department of Electrical Engineering (ISY).
Your work assignments
The research area of this position is complex networks and multiagent dynamics, with special focus on human decisions and opinion dynamics. The research will deal with both theoretical and computational aspects. The student will develop dynamical models and apply them for instance to socio-technological networks.
The Division of Automatic Control has a strong commitment to WASP (Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program). This recruitment is potentially eligible for affiliation with the WASP graduate school.
As a PhD student, you devote most of your time to doctoral studies and the research project of which you are part. Your work may also include teaching or other departmental duties, up to a maximum of 20% of full-time.
Your qualifications
You have a Master’s degree in electrical engineering, engineering physics, computer science, applied mathematics or have completed courses with a minimum of 240 credits, at least 60 of which must be in advanced courses within the topics mentioned above. Alternatively, you have gained essentially corresponding knowledge in another way. The degree requirement must be met no later than at the time the employment decision is finalized, which occurs when the employment contract is signed.
Furthermore, you shall be eager to learn new things and explore the unknown, and you like to pay attention to details. You must also have strong communication skills in English, both in writing and orally.

The Division of Automatic Control is successfully conducting research as well as postgraduate and undergraduate education within areas such as autonomous systems, complex networks, data-driven modeling, learning control, optimization, and sensor fusion. The division has extensive collaborations both with industry and other research groups around the world.

The employment
When taking up the post, you will be admitted to the program for doctoral studies. More information about the doctoral studies at each faculty is available at Doctoral studies at Linköping University.
The employment has a duration of four years’ full-time equivalent. You will initially be employed for a period of one year. The employment will subsequently be renewed for periods of maximum duration two years, depending on your progress through the study plan. The employment may be extended up to a maximum of five years, based on the amount of teaching and departmental duties you have carried out. Further extensions can be granted in special circumstances.
