Principal Research Engineer in Clinical Neurophysiology
Back to available jobsWe are now looking to appoint a Principal Research Engineer in the field of Clinical Neurophysiology with focus on human pain mechanisms and especially the role of the peripheral nervous system.
The position
As Principal Research Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Design, acquisition, and analysis of data from single-unit afferent recordings using microneurography
- Design, acquisition, and analysis of data from psychophysical experiments on touch and pain
The person we need
We are looking for someone with a Ph.D. in neurophysiology, neuropharmacology, or a related discipline, strong quantitative skills, a reasonable track record, and an enthusiastic approach to science.
The applicant is expected to:
- have strong background knowledge of the physiology of primary sensory afferents and peripheral mechanisms of nociception
- have proficiency in electrophysiological recordings from single primary afferent fibers (units) in humans using microneurography
- experience in the study of myelinated nociceptive signaling in humans
- be fluent in both written and spoken English
Experience in psychophysical techniques to study pain in humans is of particular merit.
The workplace
You will work at the Center for Social and Affective Neuroscience (CSAN), in the research groups led by Saad Nagi and Håkan Olausson. The groups conduct translational research in somatosensory neuroscience.
The employment
The position is full-time, 1 year.
Start date by agreement.
