Congratulations on having been admitted to our master’s programme at Linköping University (LiU). We are very much looking forward to seeing you here in August.

Introduction Days 25-27 August 2021

New master’s students to the Faculty of Science and Engineering will be formally welcomed at Campus Valla in Linköping 25-27 August. You will receive important information regarding your studies and meet your Programme Coordinator. You will also meet senior students who will be your mentors during the start of the semester. They will assist you with practical issues and guide you through the various academic administration systems you need to be familiar with.

This programme is preliminary. A final schedule will be available on August 16th, at the latest.

Wednesday 25 August – Mandatory roll call 

  • 10:15-11:15 A Digital Welcome Broadcast for Master´s Students
    Invitation to Zoom-meeting will be sent by e-mail.
  • 13:15 Mandatory roll call with Mentor and Fadder meet-up on Campus
    (This time is preliminary)
You must attend in person – on campus – to confirm your place on the programme. If you are unable to attend you have to notify us in advance. Send an e-mail to master.fse@liu.se and explain why you cannot attend and when you expect to arrive. Unless you do this you will lose your place.

Thursday 26 August

  • 9.15-11.30 Online Info Session with Faculty Coordinators

Friday 27 August

Conditionally admitted students

If you are conditionally admitted you must upload your degree certificate and transcript of your last semester(s) both in original language and with an English translation to your Universityadmissions.se account by 1 November 2021.

Residing in Sweden

As soon as you have been accepted to commence studies at LiU, we recommend applicants who are citizens of non-EU/EEA countries to do the following:

1) Pay your tuition fee.
2) Apply for a resident permit from the Swedish Migration Agency.

We advise you not to book any non-refundable travel until you are sure you can reside and study in Sweden. You can find further information here

Semester schedule

The first study period starts on Monday 30 August. This is the autumn 2021 semester schedule:

30 Aug - 15 Oct: Study period 1
25 Oct - 30 Oct: Examination period 1
 1 Nov - 17 Dec: Study period 2
 20 Dec - 3 Jan: Self-study
4 Jan - 8 Jan: Re-examination period
10 Jan - 15 Jan: Examination period 2

Academic studies at LiU

Advice for applicants and admitted students, including recommendations before you arrive in Sweden, planning your studies, understanding what is expected from you, and the importance of working in groups as well as studying independently. You also learn about examination forms.

Study Counsellor Marie Carlsson and student Abhishek Raina offer helpful tips on how to plan your studies. You will learn about group work, network-building and what kind of support LiU can offer. They also describe a typical week as a student.

 

This webinar has tons of useful information for admitted students. Senior Lecturer David Grundlegård and students Sandra and Adam cover everything from the grading system, scholarships, workload and accommodation to Swedish weather and food.
