Dual research perspectives
The programme joins the perspectives of two departmental research groups – Energy Systems, and Environmental Technology and Management. These groups are developing system solutions and producing internationally renowned research in areas such as renewable energy, energy efficiency, future waste management systems, urban and industrial symbioses, integrated product service offerings, and corporate environmental management.Specialisation in concepts, strategies and methods
The first semester introduces you to environmental engineering and energy systems, alongside core engineering topics such as project management. The second and third semesters build specialization in concepts, strategies, and methods for achieving more efficient materials and energy use at the product, business, inter-business, and societal level. In the third semester, you apply this knowledge to work on a real-life sustainability challenge through an advanced project course, using tools such as life cycle assessment and energy auditing. Elective courses let you go further into areas such as biofuels for transportation, advanced ecodesign, sustainable manufacturing, and innovation management. The programme concludes with a degree project (30 ECTS) in the final semester.
