Bachelor´s Programme in Experimental and Industrial Biomedicine (National admissions round)

Autumn 2024 / Full-time / Linköping

Linköping University is offering the first international bachelor programme in Sweden that combines project management skills with practical experience of state-of-the-art biomedical research techniques. The programme was designed in partnership with world-leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies to ensure our graduates have the knowledge and skills required to work at the forefront of biomedical research and innovation.

Theoretical knowledge and practical experience

This Bachelor programme will provide you with deep theoretical knowledge and practical experience of basic and advanced research techniques in fundamental biomedical fields such as cell and molecular biology, medical biochemistry, physiology, and pharmacology as well as in the hi-tech areas of drug discovery, systems biology, bioinformatics and digital pathology. Throughout the programme your biomedical training will be run in parallel with project-driven courses to allow you apply your knowledge, ideas and enthusiasm. To ensure that you can translate research breakthroughs into clinical products and services the program trains students in the latest approaches in project management, clinical trial design, bioentrepreneurship, drug regulation and medical ethics.

You will also have the opportunity to spend an entire semester performing research at Linköping University or at one of our industrial partners, in Sweden or abroad. By educating our students in the theory and practice of innovative biomedical research as well as research management our programme aims to develop the biomedical research leaders of the future.

Project courses with bioentrepreneurship

During each semester you will be engaged in real projects from healthcare, industry or academia. By meeting potential customer with new projects, you will integrate a comprehensive set of personal, interpersonal, and professional biomedical knowledge with the laboratory skills. You will take the project through the entire lifecycle of the commercialisation process, of services or products, including communication skills to meet other researchers or potential customers. Alumni insights

LiU Alumnus from the Experimental and Industrial Biosciences Bachelor's Programme at Linköping University.“One of the best aspect of Linköping University’s programme in Biomedicine is the close contact with the teachers. As experts in their fields they provided an exciting insight into the research done at the university. The close collaboration with the teachers really taught us how to work within a research group and how to grow as students and take the responsibility needed to become an independent researcher. If I were to pick my most memorable course from the programme it would be my bachelor project. I had so much fun and it gave me the confidence to pursue a career in academia. To work in a research group and get the support to learn the whole process – from forming the research question to the thesis and presentation – was such an amazing experience.”

LiU Alumnus from the Experimental and Industrial Biosciences Bachelor's Programme at Linköping University.

“Linköping University offered a programme focused towards research which is really what I was looking for. The programme has gathered everything I’m interested in, from Life Science to development and business management. The interaction with different innovators and the practical and theoretical knowledge in how you take a product from idea to a potential product, and how to plan and manage the project is something that feels useful both in research and within the industry. The teachers were really invested in our education and took on a role more like that of a mentor that really wanted to help us succeed in our studies. During my years at the Medical Biosciences programme, I really got to achieve something I’m proud of.”
