Through research and innovative courses, INCO-ECTE strengthens the international network in Early Childhood Teacher Education. The focus is on cultural sensitivity as a core competence at all levels of education.

Good education at all levels requires a sensitive approach to diversity. Working with intercultural competence as both form and content, the involved universities will strengthen international collaboration and knowledge sharing in Early Childhood Teacher Education (ECTE), contributing to educators’ and students’/future EC teachers’ development of intercultural competence as cultural sensitivity. Two micro-module courses and a website are concrete outcomes, as well as documenation of challenges to be further developed upon in the ECIU program.

Objectives of the project:

  • Create sustainable capacity for innovative, relevant teaching and research collaboration through strengthening the international network in Early Childhood Teacher Education
  • Develop intercultural competence as cultural sensitivity among teachers and students of ECTE, facing cultural diversity in the interpersonal encounters that constitute all education, thus both in EC teacher training and in EC practice.
