Sustainability and agility are undeniable drivers of competitive production industries. Extremely exciting and powerful opportunities are created by leveraging on the emerging capabilities offered by connectivity, AI (Artificial Intelligence), advanced mechatronics and their aggregate contribution under the scopes of Industry 4.0 and Industry 5.0. The concept of Industrial Cyber-physical Systems (ICPSs) captures well these opportunities by offering a framework for the development of intelligent, more autonomous, and data-intensive production systems.
Our vision as a research group is to leverage ICPS (Industrial Cyber Physical Systems) to create value for companies, society, and the environment. As a group we develop and implement several R&D actions, normally in the form of research projects, to realize this vision. In many cases we work with testing and developing directly in industry, but we also develop more fundamental research works our own ICPS labs.
We train the next generation engineers to work with, develop and manage these systems. We continuously incorporate research results as part of our courses in subjects like virtual manufacturing, automation, and manufacturing technology for students in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Design and Product Development and many International Master Students. Our courses have a combined throughput of more than 200 students per year. We are also continually active in lifelong learning activities and are actively developing the Ingenjör4.0 initiative.
