In this context learning refers to the process of using data to create mathematical descriptions of mechanisms for control and supervision of systems or processes.

It involves sub-problems such as selection of mathematical structures, handling of large data sets, and convergence and robustness issues. The area encompasses Iterative Learning Control (ILC), which is a method to which partners of the center have contributed substantially, concerning both theory and applications.
