This position will be placed at the division for Analysis and Didactics (ANDI) with a focus on mathematical analysis. The department consists of approximately twenty-five teachers, researchers and doctoral students. The research at the division is conducted both within various branches of mathematical analysis as well as mathematics education, Analysis and Mathematics Education (ANDI) - Linköping University (liu.se)
Work assignments
The mathematics department's teaching consists for the most part of basic courses on engineering programs with learning activities for both larger and smaller student groups. As a course manager, applicants are expected to be able to handle teaching as well as examinations and administration. The teaching part can also include other tasks such as supervision of degree projects.
The research will mainly consist of individual projects within mathematical analysis, but it may also include tasks such as participation in research projects and activities connected to our PhD program. In addition to producing individual research, the applicant is also expected to interact with existing researchers within the department, and to contribute to the research environment within analysis.
You are active in the research community, participate in the division's activities such as seminars and workshops, participate in research projects, communicate results through academic publications and help attract external research funding.
You contribute actively to the university's development work.
The employment may also involve administrative or management duties in the future.
Your work includes monitoring developments nationally and internationally within your field of study and other societal developments that are important to your work.
You are flexible and have the ability to move between different types of pedagogical and scientific contexts. You share knowledge and contribute to the working group’s professional development, collegial ways of working and social community. The fact that you are present and active is something we see as self-evident in order to ensure that you are able to perform your duties in an optimal way and enjoy your working community.
Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate who has received a doctoral degree or has equivalent academic expertise and has demonstrated pedagogical expertise or other professional skills that are of significance with consideration for the subject and duties relevant to the appointment.
For this employment equal importance will be given to academic and pedagogical expertise.
In terms of pedagogical expertise, the following will be assessed:
- A requirement for the position is documented experience of teaching mathematics at undergraduate level. In addition to specifying the teaching experience, the applicant is encouraged to describe his/her view on teaching in his/her application.
- Of merit is experience in course responsibility, examination and course development.
- Of particular merit for the position is successfully conducted teaching.
In terms of academic expertise, the following will be assessed:
- Requirements for the position are a doctoral degree in mathematics (or a foreign degree equivalent to at least one such degree) and published research in mathematical analysis.
- Of merit for this position is a research field that reinforces the existing ones that are represented in the division. Current research directions are presented on the page: Analysis and Mathematics Education (ANDI) - Linköping University (liu.se). The applicant is encouraged to become familiar with which fields are represented at the division, as well as describe in the application how the applicant fits in among the existing research orientations.
- Of merit is experience in applying for and obtaining external research funds.
- Also of merit is experience of interdisciplinary research.
- Of particular merit is successfully conducted research within mathematical analysis.
Other proficiencies that will be assessed for this position are
- Requirements for this employment are a good ability to communicate with and contribute to a good reception of students.
As teaching and research is conducted in Swedish and English, you must be able to demonstrate the ability to teach and conduct research in English and it is expected that you within two years will be able to teach in Swedish.
