Back to available jobsWork assignments
You will belong to the Department of Science and Technology (ITN) and the Division of Communication and Transport Systems (KTS), which is one of the largest environments in the Nordic region for research and education in transport, logistics, and urban development. The activities are conducted within the units of Construction Engineering, Construction Logistics, Traffic Systems, Quantitative Logistics, Aviation Logistics, Rail and Public Transport, and Mobile Telecommunications. The research is mainly externally funded and carried out in close collaboration with industry, authorities, and society. We are responsible for six educational programs at the undergraduate level.
Research in the construction area at the KTS division includes traditional construction research but focuses primarily on construction logistics. Based on two endowed professorships and external funding, more than ten research projects related to this area are conducted, including digitalization, industrial construction, logistics strategies, urban development projects, third-party logistics, and sustainability aspects.
As an associate professor in construction engineering, you will also teach at both undergraduate and advanced levels, primarily in our engineering program in Construction Engineering and our master's program in Digitalized Construction. Course orientations where you may be involved include construction and project management, sustainable construction, digitalization of urban development, BIM, digital twins, and construction companies' supply chains. The work includes course design, course responsibility, and student supervision. Teaching is primarily conducted in Swedish, but English is also used as a teaching language.
We have an established platform for collaboration with industry and the surrounding society through the center formation Brains & Bricks and a well-developed network with universities, companies, and organizations active in the construction industry, both nationally and internationally.
In addition to your role in research and teaching, we also see that you have an interest in the assignment as unit manager for the Construction Engineering unit. The assignment as unit manager for the Construction Engineering unit is limited in scope (normally 10% of full-time) but very important for the unit's activities and function. As a unit manager, you participate in the division's management group meetings, conduct employee and salary discussions, and contribute to the unit's collaboration and integration with the rest of the university and the outside world. In addition to your formal leadership, you will also be the research leader for the research within the unit and are expected to support your colleagues in research work, actively seek research funding, and initiate new projects. You also collaborate with the director of studies and other teachers regarding the development, quality assurance, and marketing of our engineering program in Construction Engineering and our master's program in Digitalized Construction.
You are active within the research community, participate in the division's activities such as seminars and workshops, participate in research projects, communicate results through scientific publications, and contribute to attracting external research funding.
You actively contribute to the university's development work. Collaboration is an integral part of the university's research and education mission. Collaboration in research occurs by disseminating, making accessible, and utilizing research. Collaboration in education occurs by planning, organizing, and conducting good education in interaction with actors from the surrounding society.
You have good leadership skills, which are demonstrated by leading and motivating others, coordinating groups, and creating engagement and participation. You take initiative, start activities, and achieve results. Furthermore, you are guided by goals and results in prioritization, planning, and action.
Your work includes following developments nationally and internationally within your subject area and societal developments that are relevant to your work.
You are flexible and have the ability to move between different types of pedagogical and scientific contexts. You share knowledge and contribute to the professional development of the workgroup, collegial working methods, and social community. Being present and active is seen as essential for you to perform your tasks in the best way and thrive in the work community.
