Postdoc in Organic electro chemistry
Back to available jobsWe are now looking for a new Postdoc in Organic eletro chemistry that will join us at the Laboratory of Organic Electronics (LOE), a division of the Department of Science and Technology (Institutionen för teknik och naturvetenskap, ITN), Campus Norrköping.
Research area and work place
The Post. Doc position belongs jointly to the groups Organic Electrochemical Devices (OED) in the unit of Organic Energy Materials and Green Polymer Chemistry (GPC). At OED we explore the conversions of biomaterials from forest, air components, and water at electrochemical interfaces in flow devices aiming at green energetics and sustainable chemical transformations. We share a common interest in exploiting the combination of electronic and ionic charge transports from mechanistic level up to device engineering. Our research topics include organic electrochemical interfaces, oxygen and water electrocatalysis, membrane phenomena, and proton-coupled electron transfer. Our activities span the range from basic research to commercialization. Whereas at GPC we work at the interface between Polymer Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Biopolymer Chemistry towards Functional and Sustainable Materials.
Work assignments
As a postdoc in our group you will essentially carry out research on the coupled chemical/electrochemical synthesis of aminoacids and related compounds from small molecules in various static and flow cell reactors. A post-doc takes an active part in shaping and correcting the research direction together with the supervisors. Various tasks assigned to the post-doc include continuous learning and keeping up to date in the research domain, driving the research, designing and performing experiments, analyzing the results, maintaining collaborations, writing scientific articles, presenting the research results at conferences, active participation in various internal meetings.
As postdoc, you will principally carry out research. A certain amount of teaching may be part of your duties, up to a maximum of 20% of working hours.
Qualifications
The position requires a doctorate or an equivalent degree from a Swedish or foreign university with a specialization in chemistry/physical chemistry.
It is considered advantageous if your doctoral degree is no older than three years at application deadline for this job. If there are special reasons for having an older doctoral degree – such as taking statutory leave – then these may be taken into consideration.
The expertise in electrochemistry and sufficient general understanding of organic chemistry, electrochemical principles and methods is essential. The experience in electrocatalysis, organic electrochemistry, engineering of electrochemical devices, such as flow batteries, fuel cells and electrolyzers is a plus. Sufficient level of written and oral professional English is required. Good written and oral communication skills is a plus.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities such as curiosity, creativity, motivation, critical and self-critical attitude, cooperativity rather than competitivity, openness to dialog.
