The position

The position is on electrophysiological work on voltage-gated ion channels expressed in Xenopus oocytes. The work includes molecular biology, expressing the channels, measuring ion channel activity with voltage-clamp techniques, and analyzing electrophysiological data. You will be part of a large ion channel community.

The person we need

We are seeking a coworker that can take responsibility and independently run electrophysiological experiments on Xenopus oocytes expressing different types of voltage-gated ion channels.

The following education, experience and expertise are required:

  • A master education in biomedicin or equivalent
  • Hands-on experience in performing voltage clamp experiments on Xenopus oocytes expressing voltage-gated ion channels
  • Hands-on experience in analyzing electrophysiological data in experiments with different types of gating modifiers

In addition, the following education, experience and expertise will strengthen an application:

  • Skills in independently analysing, describing and presenting scientific work within the field of electrophysiology. This can shown for instance by a master’s thesis

The workplace

The position is located in the division of Cell and Neurobiology and the research environment of ion channel biophysics. There are four independent research groups in this environment, all performing high quality science. The Department of Cell and Neurobiology is one of the departments belonging to the Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences (BKV).

The laboratories are located at the University Hospital Campus at Linköping University.

The employment

The position is a fixed-term employment for one year, 100%. Not longer than June 30, 2026.
