We are searching for two research engineers within flight logistic. In this position, you will have the opportunity to work on projects that develop solutions for more efficient and sustainable flight operations. You will collaborate closely with others in a dynamic environment where modeling, simulation, and analysis are at the core.

The position

As a research engineer in flight logistics, you will work in close collaboration with researchers and doctoral students within the division. The role involves contributing to ongoing research projects focused on modeling, simulation, and analysis of flight operations, particularly in areas related to fuel consumption and future urban air transport systems.

Your tasks will include developing, adapting, and testing computational tools, including directing drones via software. You will also contribute to data collection, result processing, and the creation of visualizations and presentations of research findings.

The work is conducted in an environment with several active collaboration partners from both industry and public authorities, offering excellent opportunities for professional development and networking.

The person we need

For this position we require that you have a master degree in Computer science, computer engineering or a related subject.

To be qualified for this position you need to have earlier experience in programming (Python, C/C++, Java. JavaScript), especially in design, analysis and implementation of geometric algorithms (computational geometry, map-based web interfaces, GIS). It will be considered a merit if you also have earlier experience with conflict detection and resolution in various traffic modes. Knowledge of potential patterns of urban air mobility and the ability to control drones using software will also be assets.

You are expected to have very good ability to communicate both orally and in writing in English, if you also have this ability in Swedish it is considered a merit.

We are lookign for someone that is independent in work and show initiative. You should also maintain a structured and organized approach to your tasks. We believe you should have strong analytical skills and enjoy solving complex problems. We also consider it important that you communicate effectively and have good collaboration skills.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities and suitability for the role.

The workplace

You will belong to the Department of Science and Technology (ITN) which is known for its activities in logistics, visualization and organic electronics. We combine academic height with fruitful collaboration with the surrounding society. The position belongs to the division Communication and Transport Systems (KTS), which is one of the largest environments for research and education in the transport area in the Nordic countries. The operations are conducted within the units Traffic Systems, Quantitative Logistics, Flight logistics, Rail and Public Transport, Mobile Telecommunications, Construction Logistics and Construction Technology. The research is mainly externally funded and is carried out in close collaboration with industry, authorities and society. In undergraduate education, we are responsible for six education programs.

The employment

Time limited employment for 12 month, full time. 

Start date by agreement.

This position may come to be a security classified position. If so, security screening including a records check will be carried out before any decision on employment is made.
