Doctoral Studies at the Faculty of Educational Sciences

Around 80 researchers and doctoral students are currently active within the Faculty of Educational Sciences. During the last few years, research has been greatly consolidated in this area.

The overall responsibility for the implementation and quality of research training lies within the Board of the Faculty of Educational Sciences. Strategic considerations concerning postgraduate education, research and undergraduate education are formulated in the faculty's strategic plan.

To ensure that research training maintains a high quality, the Faculty Board has established a Research and Postgraduate Studies Board. The everyday work within each research training programme has been delegated by the Faculty Board to the department where the programme is placed.

The Research and Postgraduate Studies Board continuously follows up the faculty's research training, its administration and its organisation at departments and within the Faculty Office.

Doctoral studies in Mathematics Education

Mathematics Education aims to understand and contribute to further development of mathematics teaching and learning at all levels and to investigate the role of mathematics in people's opportunities to understand and act in our complex environment.

Doctoral Programme in Science and Technology Education

The doctoral programme gives students advanced knowledge and skills in the didactics of technology and natural sciences in order to make them independent reseachers in the field of the didactics of technology and/or natural sciences.

The Doctoral Programme in Pedagogic Practices

This doctoral programme focuses on research in and regarding preschool, school and teacher training. The thesis projects are relevant to the school system and the teacher training, and the doctoral students are given the opportunity to teach.
