My research investigates the sources and environmental fate of chemical pollutants in natural and engineered systems using various analytical approaches. My long-term goals are to improve social awareness of pollution and industrial culpability.

Chemical Pollutants in Biogas Systems

Biogas production fits the criteria for several important initiatives for sustainable development, including managing and valorization of organic wastes and improving circular agricultural systems. However, as different types of organic feedstocks are considered (i.e., Sewage sludge, manure, etc.), so does the complexity of potential chemical pollutants that may enter these systems (or be reintroduced to the environment as biofertilizer). It is currently unclear: i) which chemical pollutants are present in Swedish biogas systems, ii) what happens to these contaminants during the digestion processes, and iii) how is the overall environmental and societal implications considered?
