Cardiovascular Risk and Lifestyle Factors in Health and Disease

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death globally. The underlying mechanisms of cardiovascular diseases are complex and multifactorial. Inflammation is suggested to play an important role in the development of cardiovascular disease. An aim of my research is to investigate the association of low-grade inflammation and cardiovascular health.

Type 2 diabetes is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Diet is an important part of the prevention and treatment of type 2 diabetes. An aim of my research is to study the effect of dietary interventions on HbA1c, blood lipids, and low-grade inflammation in patients with type 2 diabetes.
