The CMIV Research School offers a unique doctoral program designed for PhD students from both medical and technical backgrounds. At the heart of the program is close interdisciplinary collaboration, bridging the gap between healthcare and technology.
Our PhD students come from diverse fields such as medicine, health sciences, engineering, and natural sciences. What sets the CMIV Research School apart is its supervision model: each student has a main supervisor from their own discipline, supported by assistant supervisors from complementary fields. This ensures that every student receives guidance from both medical and technical perspectives throughout their research journey.
The research school fosters an active academic community. Once a month, all CMIV PhD students meet to share updates, learn about upcoming courses, and take part in a research seminar. During these seminars, students present their projects to peers and senior researchers, gaining valuable feedback and engaging in interdisciplinary discussions.
Each year, the CMIV Conference provides further opportunities for PhD students to showcase their work in a research pitch session and participate in dedicated workshops or lectures. These events help strengthen professional networks and encourage new collaborations. The program often includes an annual PhD Student Day with a study visit or hands-on workshop, offering further inspiration and insights from the field.
