The division and institute REMESO (Research on Migration, Ethnicity and Society), at the Department of Culture and Society, IKOS, conducts education and research. The education is mainly conducted in relation to social and cultural issues, as well as to issues of globalization, migration, ethnicity and the transformation of working life. The education activities are dominated by the bachelor’s program in Social and Cultural Analysis and the international master's program in Ethnic and Migration Studies. Research education and postgraduate education are mainly conducted in the areas of migration, ethnicity and society, with a variety of specializations. The department is based in Norrköping.
REMESO combines broad social and cultural science programs with cutting-edge research in the field of migration and ethnicity. In addition to undergraduate education, there is a postgraduate program in ethnicity and migration and an international Graduate School for Studies on Migration, Ethnicity, and Society. REMESO is an international environment where the working languages are both Swedish and English.
We are now looking for a Senior Lecturer who is able and willing to develop REMESO’s pedagogic and scholarly profile in the transdisciplinary field of Ethnic and Migration Studies. The position includes teaching and to some extent research; administrative tasks may also be included.
Teaching takes place within the bachelor’s program in Social and Cultural Analysis (SKA) and the international Master's program in Ethnic and Migration Studies. Other teaching assignments at undergraduate and graduate level within IKOS and other departments at Linköping University may also be included in the position. Expected teaching areas include social and cultural theory; studies of ethnicity, integration and migration, and methods and methodologies in the humanities and social sciences. Research opportunities are primarily provided by participation in successful applications for project- and program funding from external funding bodies.
We expect you to be active in the research community, participate in departmental activities such as seminars and workshops, take part in research projects, communicate results through scientific publications and help attract external research funding.

Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a doctoral degree or equivalent scientific competence, who have demonstrated pedagogical proficiency or other professional proficiency relevant to the position’s subject area and work assignments.
For this position, equal emphasis will be placed on scientific proficiency and pedagogical proficiency.
Scientific proficiency will be assessed according to the following criteria:
- A requirement for this position is documented proficiency in research on ethnicity, migration, and borders in global and/or historical perspective, and in relation to one or more of the research fields of integration, racism, colonialism, democracy, political economy and critical cultural studies.
- Documented proficiency in applying for and acquiring external research projects, either individually or collaboratively, makes the applicant particularly suitable for this position.
Pedagogical proficiency will be assessed according to the following criteria:
- A requirement for this position is documented proficiency in applying a critical and transdisciplinary perspective to education in the humanities and social sciences.
- A requirement for this position, furthermore, is documented proficiency in teaching to heterogeneous student groups.
- Documented proficiency in relating education in the humanities and social sciences to research in the field of ethnicity and migration makes the applicant particularly suitable for this position.
- Documented proficiency in the teaching of social and cultural theory; ethnicity, integration, and migration; as well as methods and methodologies in the humanities and social sciences are particularly meritorious.
Other qualifications are assessed according to the following criteria:
- Applicants with documented proficiency in collaboration with the public and relevant stakeholders are suited for this position.
- As REMESO adopts global perspectives on migration and ethnicity and strives for a global classroom, proven proficiency in a non-European language is an advantage.
You demonstrate good collaborative skills, and contribute to the unit’s professional development, collegial atmosphere, and community. You are structured and able to plan, organize and prioritize work effectively. In both education and research, you are self-motivated, initiate activities and achieve results. In your scientific and educational activities, you foster and maintain good relationships with colleagues both within the unit and outside. REMESO is a vibrant education and research environment, and employees are expected to be present on site most of their working time.
Since teaching and research are conducted in Swedish and English, you must be able to demonstrate your ability to teach and conduct research in English and it is desirable that you can teach and conduct research in Swedish within two years.
