Medical Education encompasses knowledge of educational processes in health professions. The research is practice-oriented with a focus on how theoretical knowledge and professional skills are integrated in the development of professional and interprofessional identities, and how these are expressed in the daily health care work. Research in medical education also includes interactive processes between healthcare professionals, patients and relatives. A strategic strength within medical education also comprises a research focus on interprofessional collaboration and learning.
As a professor, you are active within the research community, participate in the department's activities such as seminars and workshops, engage in research projects, communicate results through scientific publications, and contribute to attracting external research funding, both independently and in collaboration with others, in order to strengthen the subject group's capacity to conduct research. The position includes developing and leading research within the subject area, applying for external funding, undertaking internal and external academic service assignments, teaching, administrative duties, and collaboration with the surrounding society.
As a professor in medical education, you teach at an advanced level in Swedish and English and supervise doctoral students in field of medical education. The work includes course design and administration.
You actively contribute to the university's development work. You contribute to collaboration, which is an integrated part of the university's research and educational mission.
- Collaboration in research occurs by disseminating, making accessible, and utilizing research.
- Collaboration in education occurs by planning, organizing, and conducting good education in interaction with actors from the surrounding society.
The position may also involve administrative tasks, such as subject representative/leader. We encourage you to participate in and show interest in leadership assignments.
Your work includes following the development nationally and internationally within your subject area and the societal development in general that is relevant to your work.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has demonstrated both scientific and pedagogical skills.
For this position,

Regarding scientific skills, the following will be assessed:
Requirements for the position are
- Doctoral degree or equivalent scientific competence
- Familiarity with profession-specific and interprofessional learning processes.
- Documented research on and development of learning processes in various contexts for professionals, students in higher education and patients
- Experience in collaboration with other actors outside the research community.
- Especially meritorious is experience in collaborating within interdisciplinary and multiprofessional research groups.
Regarding pedagogical skills, the following will be assessed:
Requirements for the position are
- Experience in teaching at both undergraduate and advanced levels as well as doctoral level
- Completed Higher education pedagogical courses
- Documented supervision of doctoral students
- Demonstrated pedagogical skills, or other professional skills relevant to the subject content and duties of the position.
- Meritorious is experiences in participation in the development of new courses and/or programs.
- Meritorious is experiences in interprofessional education and learning.
- Meritorious is experience in student-centered learning, such as problem-based learning (PBL), which is the pedagogical method used at the Faculty of Medicine, Linköping University.
Regarding collaboration, the following will be assessed:
- documented skills in collaboration within research.
Other skills that will be assessed for this position are
- You are expected to demonstrate the ability to obtain external research funding as the principal applicant in a competitive process.
- Meritorious is a professional background with experience in Health and Medical care
- You are sociable and able to collaborate with other researchers in joint analyses and publications. You are open-minded and view feedback and reflection as essential parts of the research process. Additionally, you are creative and responsible, driving research work forward.
Since teaching and research is conducted in Swedish and English
- You must be able to demonstrate the ability to teach and conduct research in both Swedish and English.
- You must be able to demonstrate the ability to teach and conduct research in English, and it is desirable that you can teach and/or conduct research in Swedish within two years.
You are flexible and have the ability to move between different types of pedagogical and scientific contexts. You share knowledge and contribute to the professional development of the workgroup, collegial working methods, and social community. Being present and active is seen as essential for you to perform your tasks in the best way and thrive in the work community.
