Merete Ellegard was appointed assistant director musices at LiU in 2009. She has artistic responsibility for the Linköping University Symphony Orchestra and the Linköping University Women’s Choir – Linnea, with teaching responsibility for the Symphony Orchestra course and Choral Activities courses given at the Department of Culture and Communication at LiU.

Ellegaard studied as oboist the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg and has studied conducting at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. She has long experience as orchestral conductor, teacher of conducting and leadership, and has had freelance engagements with orchestras, both professional and amateur.

The Nordic Student Singers’ Summit is back! The 11th Summit will be held where it all began, at Linköping University, from Thursday 29 May to Sunday 1 June 2025. The whole of Linköping will be filled with song, just as LiU turns 50 years old!

Academic Celebration with space journey and Harry Potter

This year’s Academic Celebration at Linköping University will take place on 31 May and 1 June. The Celebration will feature lectures by honorary doctors, including astronaut Marcus Wandt, and an Academic Gala Concert with a children’s world theme.

Walpurgis tradition turns 50

The Walpurgis celebration will, as is customary, include songs and speeches to spring and donning of caps with the Linköping University Male Voice Choir in Borggården outside Linköping Castle. This year, the tradition celebrates its 50th anniversary.
