Merete Ellegard was appointed assistant director musices at LiU in 2009. She has artistic responsibility for the Linköping University Symphony Orchestra and the Linköping University Women’s Choir – Linnea, with teaching responsibility for the Symphony Orchestra course and Choral Activities courses given at the Department of Culture and Communication at LiU.

Ellegaard studied as oboist the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg and has studied conducting at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. She has long experience as orchestral conductor, teacher of conducting and leadership, and has had freelance engagements with orchestras, both professional and amateur.

Academic Celebrations for semi-centennial university

This spring’s Academic Celebrations will take place on 23-24 May. Among the highlights are the performance of a new piece of music composed in honour of the university, and open lectures by thonorary doctors, including Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang.
