Barnafrid is directed towards professionals who work with children and young people who are victims of violence and other abuses, but also to professionals at e.g. authorities. The objective of the knowledge center is to, by assembling and disseminating knowledge, contribute to improved prevention and to develop effective interventions to protect and support children that are victims of violence and other abuses.
Barnafrid shall be a link between research and practice and is today responsible for various national professional networks where professionals are invited to different meetings for lectures and opportunities to share experiences with each other. The knowledge center will annually identify knowledge needs and target the knowledge compilations to the professionals concerned but also to identify areas of development and report them annually to the government.
