As a PhD student in Mathematics Education, you will be part of the Mathematics Education research environment at ANDI. Mathematics Education is the study of learning, teaching, and knowledge formation in and about mathematics. As a scientific field, mathematics education aims to understand and contribute to the further development of mathematics teaching and learning at all levels of education, and to explore how mathematics can help people understand and act in an increasingly complex world. This includes investigating relationships between mathematical content and how it is communicated in different environments and contexts, as well as how individuals develop, use, and relate to mathematics. The PhD programme in Mathematics Education at MAI is primarily focused on research relevant to lower and upper secondary schools (grades 7-12) and higher education. https://liu.se/en/article/doctoral-studies-in-mathematical-didactics

The PhD programme in Mathematics Education is part of a newly established educational research school focusing on subject didactics at Linköping University. As a PhD student, you will therefore be part of a broader research context in subject didactics and will attend certain courses together with PhD students enrolled in other PhD programmes at Linköping University, in Linköping and Norrköping.
