When you arrive on campusShow/Hide content

First stop on campus

If you will study in Linköping, your first stop should be the International Office (IO) for registration. The IO is located in Studenthuset, Campus Valla. Even if you will attend classes at the University Hospital Campus you should come to Campus Valla for registration.

Because of the stricter restrictions at LiU due to the coronavirus pandemic, IO will not be present at Campus Norrköping this arrival period in January 2021. Please send an email to international.student@liu.se if you have any questions about your arrival to Norrköping.

Travel between campuses

There is a free bus service between the three LiU campuses in East Sweden– but you will need your LiU-card to be able to use this service.

If you arrive by public transport to Campus Valla there are several bus stops around campus. All buses stop either at Nobeltorget or Mäster Mattias Väg. Click on the links to get directions to Studenthuset from these bus stations. Click here for further information about how to get to Linköping and Campus.

Keys for LiU accommodation

Students studying in Linköping, who have received accommodation via LiU, can pick up the keys at Info Centre on Campus Valla. Info Centre's opening hours are 08.00 – 16.30 (during Arrival Days until 20.00). If you arrive outside office hours, you will have to arrange for accommodation at a hotel or youth hostel for the first night/nights. If you arrive on a Saturday or Sunday you cannot pick up your key until Monday morning.

Students studying in Norrköping will receive detailed information about key pick up via email before arrival.

Orientation Programme and Welcome FairShow/Hide content

Orientation Programme

During the Orientation Programme, you will get study-related information as well as practical information that will help you get settled in East Sweden and finding your way around LiU. You will meet the International Coordinators from the International Office and your Faculty Coordinators, as well as representatives from student associations, who will introduce you to the rich student life and social activities available at LiU. This event is normally two half days, and it is highly recommended all new exchange students attend. Your Faculty Coordinator will send more information about the Orientation Programme closer to the event.

Welcome Fair

Your Orientation Programme will lead to our Welcome Fair, where all new international students are invited to get to know the support and services LiU offers, such as the Library, Student Health Services etc. The Welcome Fair is held in both autumn and spring semester. You will also meet representatives from some of the student association and the student unions. There will also be companies and organisations of interest to new students represented at the fair. Welcome Fair is social and festive, with time to mingle and to try Swedish "fika" (the Swedish tradition of having coffee/tea and a sweet/savoury snack).

The Welcome Fair was held digitally on 21 January 2021. To view it, have a look at Welcome Fair spring 2021

LiU looks forward to welcoming you to our campuses and helping you settle into a new life in Sweden!
